Justin Bieber........................

If you’re not familiar with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, you’re probably wondering what Justin Bieber has to do with it. Well, according to the singer, he believes he suffers from this rare condition that causes paralysis of facial muscles on one side of the face after suffering from Bell’s palsy as a teenager. Here’s what you need to know about the syndrome and why celebrities like Justin Bieber suffer from it in the first place.

What is Ramsay Hunt syndrome?

In some cases, symptoms of Ramsay Hunt syndrome can linger for weeks or months, and treatment varies depending on whether it is from a virus or caused by physical injury. According to WebMD, steroids may be prescribed if there is swelling, but doctors don’t recommend steroids for facial nerve paralysis because they could cause other serious problems. Patients with Ramsay Hunt syndrome type 2 may have trouble moving their faces as well as vision problems. Other patients might experience double vision, headaches, and hearing loss. It is important to see a doctor right away if you think you are experiencing symptoms of Ramsay Hunt syndrome. There are many different treatments available for people who suffer from Ramsay Hunt syndrome. Doctors will help determine which one is best based on your case. You should seek medical attention immediately if you notice any of these symptoms: drooping eyelids, difficulty chewing or swallowing food, an inability to close your eyes completely, double vision, or blurred vision. If you notice these signs and go to an eye doctor immediately, he or she may be able to diagnose Ramsay Hunt syndrome before it becomes permanent.

What was Justin Bieber's treatment?

How do I recover from Ramsay Hunt syndrome? There is no full recovery, though some with positive outcomes may regain a limited range of motion and/or sensation. Treatment depends on how much involvement there is in various parts of the body and how severe it is. It usually consists of high doses of corticosteroids, sometimes combined with surgery. The most promising experimental treatment involves nerve transfers in which healthy nerves are transferred to replace damaged ones. This can help restore movement, feeling, or both. The prognosis for people with Ramsay Hunt syndrome varies widely depending on the severity of symptoms and location of lesions. Most people will experience significant improvement over time; however, in about one-third of cases, symptoms persist at least three years after onset. About 10 percent have permanent damage that does not improve over time. In rare cases, patients have died as a result of their condition. Many sources list Guillain–Barré syndrome (GBS) as an uncommon complication of Ramsay Hunt syndrome. However, a recent study found that almost 30 percent of people with Ramsay Hunt syndrome also had GBS—which means GBS should be considered when diagnosing those who present with cranial neuropathies following influenza infection. Unfortunately, like Ramsey Hunt syndrome itself, GBS can lead to serious complications such as paralysis and respiratory failure.

How can people recover from this paralysis?

Hailey Bieber told us that Justin is making strides to recover. We go to physical therapy once a week, she said. The whole thing kind of feels like it’s in slow motion but we just keep at it! Hailey also hinted that Justin will be trying some new treatments soon. We are going to do a homeopathic treatment with Dr. Joshi on his face and his leg, and some acupuncture! Justin has been so brave through all of this, but I know he’s ready for a change. He wants to get back out there and make music again. I think people can relate to him because they see how hard he works to overcome obstacles. And if Justin can do it, anyone can! Justin loves inspiring people, and we both love bringing awareness to rare diseases. So please support our fundraiser and help spread awareness about Ramsay Hunt syndrome by sharing our video or telling your friends about Justin’s story! Thank you so much for everything you’ve done already! #RamsayHuntSyndrome #JustinBieberParalyzedHalfHisFace

Are there side effects of treatment?

Justin Bieber revealed on The Jonathan Ross Show that his recovery from a severe form of arthritis called Ramsay Hunt syndrome is not going as well as hoped. According to Justin, half of his face remains paralyzed because doctors have yet to find an effective treatment plan for him. Unfortunately, he says that he’s scared it may never recover since many doctors don’t know much about treating Ramsay Hunt syndrome. I haven’t been able to sing or do anything with my voice, and I hate it. I just want to be able to make music again, but right now I can barely talk. It sucks so bad, but what can you do? You gotta stay positive and keep your head up and hope for a cure one day! Justin said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight Canada earlier today. Doctors are working hard trying to figure out how they can help me get better. They say there isn’t a lot of information about Ramsay Hunt syndrome and its treatments, so it’s pretty scary. Justin added: I feel like people should know more about it, because maybe if they did more research into finding ways to treat people who suffer from RHS, then we could find something that would work for me. Justin first announced that he was suffering from Ramsay Hunt syndrome back in April when he shared a photo of himself looking frail while sitting in a wheelchair. He wrote at the time: Just wanted to let everyone know I am okay... had some health issues lately... but I am good... thanks for everyone’s concern!! Justin also recently talked about how difficult life has been for him over the past few months during an interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra DJ Trevor Nelson last month.
